Main Classes of Octa-Decimal Classification (ODC)

The Octa-Decimal Classification (ODC) has been organized the universe of subjects into three broader groups i.e. Humanities (1-6), Social Sciences (7-D) & Science and Technology (E-H) and divided into eighteen main classes. 

0    Generalities
1    Philosophy
2    Psychology
3    Religions. Theology
4    Languages. Linguistics
5    Literature
6    The arts. Music. Sports
7    Education
8    Geography
9    History
A   Political Science
B   Social Science
C   Law Jurisprudence
D   Economics
E   Pure Sciences
F    Technology. Engineering
G   Medical Sciences
H   Agricultural Sciences
The above order of main classes is based on helpful sequence of subjects, e.g. Language (4) is related to Literature (5). So, they are placed next to each other. Similarly, History and Political Science are placed adjacent to each other because their close relationship. The above main classes indicate that each main class represents either a broad discipline or a group of related disciplines. However, this is not true for 0 classes. This class includes varied subjects.
